When Joseph Mongan opened his architectural artwork design and fabrication business, he chose the name Metalscapes because it embodied his creation of metallic art objects primarily intended for display in home and business landscapes.

A self-taught designer and craftsman, Mongan's natural artistic talent first garnered attention when he established himself as a skilled designer and fabricator of architectural artworks.  His abilities caught the eye of several Rockford, IL area businesses who subsequently hired Mongan to design and fabricate metallic Christmas trees for their clients. By early 2004 with Mongan working exclusively with steel —Metalscapes  was established!
